The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
is one of the 4 Implementing Agencies (IA) designated by the
Multilateral Fund (MLF) to implement the Montreal Protocol´s Ozone
Depletion Substances (ODS) phase-out projects.
Under
this International Treaty, the Article 5 countries committed to
phase-out its ODS consumption, including the total phase-out of the
HCFCs by the year 2040. Furthermore, the Parties to the Montreal
Protocol agreed under the Decision XIX/6 on the “Adjustment to the
Montreal Protocol with regard to Annex C, Group I substances (HCFCs)” to
“accelerate the phase-out of production and consumption of the
hydrochlorofluorcarbons (HCFCs)”, and the Article 5 (A5) countries have
been requested by the ExCom to adopt a staged approach to the
implementation of their HCFC Phase-out Management Plans (HPMP).

collaboration with the Governments´ National Ozone Units (NOU) of
Mexico, Dominican Republic & El Salvador and, under the guidance of a
Senior Expert, will carry-on the following services:

this quotation shall include all travel costs needed to the attendance

Title: Shift Leader - Polyol - Wyandotte, MI
Location: United States-Michigan-Wyandotte
Shift
Supervisor is responsible for conducting the daily shift activities
related to the manufacturing operations of the chemical facility.
Responsibility and accountability includes, but is not limited to:
·Acts
in a manner that ensures that all BASF standards are maintained in the
areas of safety, environmental, quality manufacturing and individual and
team performance.
·Serve as incident commander of the plant, and performs emergency response activities, as required.
·Motivate Operators to ensure plant is operated safely and within environmental guidelines.
·Comply
with all work related permitting policies ensuring that plant is handed
over to a third party safely thus ensuring that maintenance activities
are carried out safely.
·Participate in and complete action items from assigned MOCs, PHAs, AIMS, audits, and any other assessments or processes.
·Facilitate
the transfer of raw materials and finished products to and from vessels
including, railway cars, tank trucks, totes and drums.
·Ensures data collection / documentation of the process, interprets results and responds with appropriate adjustments.
·Ensures the proper handling of waste streams to comply with corporate, local, state and federal regulations.
·Participates in and complies with all training and development activities.
·Working
within the scope of procedures and instructions to manufacture chemical
products by operating processes and equipment, primarily via DCS and
PLC systems.
·Inspect and ensure that unit housekeeping is kept in a clean, organized and tidy condition.
·Manage
production employees on an assigned shift to include duties such as
time/absence reporting, training, performance appraisal and discipline.
·Manage shift to shift production operations ensuring that safety, supply and production goals are achieved.
·Participate in the daily planning process.
·Assists with the process and equipment troubleshooting process, as well as, quality issues
·Participate in planning/execution of day-to-day maintenance
·Use available resources to minimize down time.
·Conduct thorough shift relief, and manage Operator shift relief.
·Manage plant manpower and support levels by use of call in of technical, operational, and maintenance resources as needed.
·Assess
need and train/certify operators on plant and safety procedures, batch
sheets and SOPs acting as a back up to the other Supervisors
·Maintain
production data as required ensuring accurate and timely completion of
batch sheets, state of plant sheets, equipment checks and any safety or
environmental log sheets that are required
·Other tasks as assign by management.
·Performs
other associated work as required and/or assigned including reactor,
shipping or other operation on an emergency basis.

·Supervisory experience is required and can include fill-in experience
·5 years experience as a chemical operator with proven leadership abilities and high level initiative skills

Ensure quality constancy through the settings of methods, specific controls and a proper execution of quality control, in accordance with the instructions given by the parent company.
LABORATORY
1) Manage, coordinate and schedule the activities of the laboratory in accordance with the procedures, ensuring the required quality constancy, in line with the corporate strategies and with the customer requests.
2) Follow the color matching and formulate as necessary new and innovative products to meet the customer and market requirements.
Ensure a proper sample follow up.
3) Issue and ensure the availability/accessibility of the documentation relating to toxicity and/or classification of products in relation to the various laws and regulations, including technical and safety data sheets, so to manage and provide support to customers on environmental issues related to the product application.
Be responsible for any technical documentation issued, including, but not limited to Certificate of Analysis and Quality Control.
4) Ensure compliance of raw materials through inspections and analysis as planned.
5) Ensure the flow of technical information among the departments and through regular reports to the Italian headquarters.
Interact and maintain relationship with the headquarters in Italy, for any technical issue, as well as any new product development.
6) Act as an interface between the laboratory and the production department, for the introduction of new products in the production, by checking in advance the feasibility.
PRODUCTION
7) In cooperation with the Production Manager, coordinate the production activities based on customer orders and in compliance with the agreed delivery times.
8) Daily review the production orders so to ensure compliance with the product formulations and with the manufacturing cycles planned.
9) Monitor the quality of production (number and severity of corrections, corrections repeated on the same product), and detect non-compliance.
10) Suggest and ensure recovery of any non-compliant / out of specifications material at stock or from complaints.
11) In cooperation with the Production Manager, contribute to the improvement and optimization of the manufacturing processes, in order to achieve greater quality and productivity of the department.
12) Assist the Production Manager to solve any manufacturing issue during the manufacturing process.
13) Keep in touch with suppliers to discuss technical requirements in terms of specifications and to ensure an exchange of technical knowledge and updated information on any new products.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND REGULATORY
14) Provide and coordinate technical support to the Sales Managers and to customers, also with visit to customers when required.
15) By following the customer complaint procedure, inquire into any product complaints from customers, proposing corrective or preventive actions and verifying the effectiveness.
16) Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and with shipping regulation for hazardous material.
17) Ensure compliance with environmental health and safety local, State, and Federal laws, including but not limited to air quality, water and solid waste treatment and disposal operations and be responsible of record documentation.
18) Give support to the sales/logistics office in determining correctness of customs tariffs.
19) When requested, prepare technical presentations and/or literature and represent the Company at tradeshows or events.
NATURE AND CHARACTERISTICS
The position requires a good knowledge of chemistry, OSHA and Enviromental regulations, and experience of at least 5 years in the specific field.
The following is required:
- Analytical skills and managerial skills in problem solving, as well as the ability to plan and a good flexibility to accept constant changes;
- Ability to involve the staff to achieve the targets.
